the Herald and Perth Voice

We are a family-owned and operated small business born out of one bloke’s insatiable appetite for the news and belief in how our society works best, with open and honest access to information.
Our first edition rolled off the press in November 1989. Our mission since then has been a simple one: to provide quality, independent news. Our small but dedicated team are committed to bringing you
relevant, local, independent, ethical news every week.

Why are independent newspapers important?

Independent newspapers are one of the cornerstones of democracy. We are locals and so we report honestly and openly on the issues which affect our community. We keep governments and businesses in check by sharing information gathering and reporting on the news with rigour and integrity. This practice has made us unpopular with governments of all levels and immensely popular with our readers.
Local and independent news has never been more important.

News; it’s our passion and vital for democracy

Another day, another tranche of gloomy data; whether it’s cost-of-living, housing and rental crises or a stagnant GDP. Times are definitely tough, but this is when we need independent newsrooms more than ever; to scrutinise cheap fixes and to keep our decision-makers accountable for every taxpayers penny spent. The Herald and Voice have been proudly producing independent news for more than 30 years, and we’d like to keep it up for another 30. So we’re appealing for our readers, who’ve been so loyal all these years, to come to the fore and support our Feed the Chook campaign. Your contribution, no matter how small, keeps our newsroom going, which in turn helps to keep our democracy strong.
